Sir Paul McCartney, one of the most famous and successful pop artists of all time will be performing a global benefit concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Saturday, April 4, 2009. This appears to be a once in a lifetime event whose purpose is to provide financial support to the David Lynch Foundation¡¯s international initiative to teach one million children the Transcendental Meditation technique¡ªand change the world overnight.
Paul will appear with a host of other famous musicians and friends that are yet to be announced. However my guess is that Paul¡¯s musical guest list could include the likes of Moby, Mac Gayden and Donovan Leitch, all of whom have performed at other fund raising events held at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa and other locations around the world.
The famous 60¡¯s pop artist Donovan has had many hits including ¡°Hurdy Gurdy Man¡± and ¡°Wear Your Love Like Heaven¡± both of which were inspired by Donovans practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique. In fact the Beatles themselves have said that most of the White Album was written while they were meditating in India with Maharishi in 1969. Unlike McCartney and Donovan, Moby rose to popularity in the 90¡¯s and has built a steady fan base with his generation. Mac Gayden, on the other hand has had a hit song in each one of the last four decades as a result of his 70¡¯s song ¡°Everlasting Love¡± having being recorded over and over again by dozens of top artists such as Andy Gibb, Gloria Estefan and U2.

The David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace was founded in July 2005 and its purpose is to provide scholarships for the Transcendental Meditation program and its implementation into schools throughout the United States and around the world. This effort, spear headed by long time TM practitioner, and famous Hollywood director David Lynch, was inspired by the need to support TM¡¯s proven scientific benefit in the areas creativity, intelligence, academic performance, ADHD, anxiety, depression and substance abuse.
Last February while standing in a long line at the Indian Consulate in San Francisco I found myself talking with David Lynch as we waited to receive Indian visas so that we might attend the funeral of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi a few days later. At that time David told me: ¡°every child should have one 15 minutes class per day so that they can dive within and experience the field of silence¡ªthe enormous reservoir of energy and intelligence that the TM technique allows access to. This is the way¡±, he said, ¡°to save the coming generation¡±.
